Is there a cheaper alternative to the Nikon SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander?

Im trying to use my SB-600 as a remote flash unit with my flash as a teacher but my stupid D5000 the needs of the SU-800 to do so. Should have been built in already and I'm definitely willing to allocate 300 frik dollars for this thing. Is there a cheaper alternative? I did the research, it is just that I've been learning as I had the D5000 for half a years and barley learned to be able to access off-camera

No, you have to have as their object the SU-800 controller, or a flash memory SB-800/SB-900 in the hot shoe iTTL control that the camera flash. There is no other way to do it. If you only need a few meters, the SC-28 off camera shoe cord function, but if you need iTTL flash control, you have to spend money. Nikon has left the flash on board controller of the lower bodies from the D50, the D5000 is the Nikon DSLR sixth without it. Seems like I should have done a little research instead of assuming the command was built in
