Why not flash from my camera work? (Coolpix S230)?

I have a Nikon Coolpix S230 camera and touch screen when you turn the flash and press the button to take a picture of a small red light with the flash symbol right next to it is lit until you release the bass. I do not think the flash is broken b / c if he was let me take the photo when the flash is on, and not blinking. Teqnical Is this a problem?

I think that the flash is not loaded yet. Wait a few seconds between activation of the flash and taking the image.

    i’ve s230 nikon camera.when ever i try to take a picture a red light blink on the right side of the camera but flash don’t work.but all the pictures has been taken by camera but without flash.what is the fault ????????
