Why is my computer does not recognize my digital camera?
I'm trying to retrieve some photos, and all my downloaded programs need recognize the camera as a unit. However, when I connect to my camera, do not appear as a drive or a removable device – only one is shown as camera. It is a Nikon S560. I have Windows XP. When I tried it on a computer with Windows Vista, the camera still does not appear as a unit, but as a portable device. Help please?
There are options in some cameras to take the camera will appear as a unit. This option must be on the menus of the camera. The following two paragraphs do not apply to your situation, but they have good information. It can not be the USB ports on the front and back of your computer. Try not using now and you can succeed. Also, install any software that came with your camera and turn the camera to review. There is an option in the Control Panel or Yahoo Messenger, Preferences (Calls and audio) to select rear or front USB and audio inputs. If you can find this place you may be able to choose the desired use, but until then just use the one you are not using now. If you still have problems, the following information describes a better way to move or copy photos to and from a computer or memory card. If the computer has memory card slots, finding the right slot and photo copy of the memory card to your computer. If no memory card slots in your computer or slots not working with your memory card, buy a card reader Targus at Walmart for $ 8.88 or brand for less at Ritz / Wolf / Camera kit. Moreover, they do 3 ½ x 5 prints "digital for 6 ¢ each on Tuesday and Wednesday. CAUTION To prevent damage memory card, keep the batteries charged and not delete. Wait for the lights to stop blinking then turn the camera off before removing memory. For card readers, double click Safely Remove Hardware. Select, then click Stop and OK. After connecting the memory card, go to My Computer and open the memory card select the image you want to copy, and then copy the My Pictures folder of My Documents Documents and Settings. He's been playing with this and it worked very well, but you must first format the memory card into the camera, because it adds files to the card you will need. Next, take a picture of something with the camera. Place the memory card into the card reader and go to My Computer. Open the memory card and you should see a folder on the left (DCIM) with the image. Do not open the MISC folder on the right. Double-click the DCIM folder and you should see another example, the folder 100HPM417, which includes the name of your camera. Double-click that folder and you should see the picture you just took. When you copy from your computer to a memory card that is the folder where the images should be copied. It may only be able to copy a picture at a time.
