How I can upload photos of my standard memory card in my desktop mac?

I have a Nikon Coolpix S570 and a 4gig memory card standard. I need to upload my photos & videos. Now I have the camera cable and connected to the computer, but nonthing is happening as if he were doing this in a PC. I heard there is a memory card slot on the Mac, but how does that work?

Some Macs have card readers. Just insert the card into the slot and use Search to find and copy the image files from your memory card to the computer. Easy
