No SB-600-800 and SB autofocus help?

I have a Nikon D40 digital camera and a flash SB-400 and I wondered if the SB-600 and SB-800 that have the red flashes below the flash light to help the autofocus system as the AF assist lamp?

Yes they do. The red light is an aid to the FA to call the AF assist illuminator. It supports a wider area than the built in AF assist.
