List of lenses that are working with the Nikon D40?
I have a Nikon D40, I was looking for telephoto lenses. I saw al-200mm f4-5.6G ED-S DX Zoom Nikkor AF 55 Lens. But I was wanting one that has more zoom, but then it has AF and manual in line with a Nikon D40. So if I wanted a microlensing also say the AF-S Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED. it should work?
Almost all Nikon F-mount lens mount and work on a Nikon D40. There are over 400 more or less Nikon F-mount lenses. However, with auto focus is only possible with lenses that have a motor on them. These include the AF-S lenses and AF-I CPU. Probably I knew already. If you are looking for a lens that has more range than the 55-200mm AF-S, and want to auto-focus capability, then your best bet is the nikon 70-300mm AF-S. It The beauty of this objective is that, also has vibration reduction, not to mention the lens star. This is the official list of all AF-S lenses NikonUSA: http://nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=5 Locate the "AF-S (Silent Wave Motor) Lenses." As far as manual focus goes, you will be able to focus manually all Nikon F-mount lenses, with exception of some specialized lenses. The good thing about AF-S is having a nice switch to flip to manual focus mode. Hope this helps. – Elan http://www.dslrgossip.com Elango
