Nikon D80 – Brazil vs. U.S. – The difference?
Is there any physical / mechanical difference between a Nikon D80 done for Brazil and a Nikon D80 fact for the U.S., if imported or gray market? What about D40, D60, D90, D200?
There is no difference in physical or mechanical. The real difference is in warranty coverage – Nikon USA not support gray market products, but U are willing to pay for the repairs. Brazil also uses the standard PAL TV while the U.S. currently uses the NTSC television standard, so U might need to enter the setup menu and D80 change from PAL to NTSC. Nikon says: "Nikon collected in the U.S. is the only authorized importer of Nikon Corporation of Japan for photographic devices. Nikon USA Inc. pays shipping to the U.S., import duties and taxes, and provides service, support and downloads for these products. Nikon USA Inc. ensures that products imported are fully certified and safe for use in the U.S. market ". Nikon Inc. USA can not provide service, support or unloading of goods that have not been U.S. imported by Nikon Inc. ".- Source: http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/331
