Wireless Flash Control Nikon?

I have a Nikon D50, which unfortunately is not wirelessly control my SB-600 flash. I wish I could to move around my flash to experiment with lighting angles. thought I had just bought a sync cable, either the 17-28-SC or SC. I guess although these are not going to get me exactly what I expected, mainly due to the extension of the cable is really going to pull my tripod, and I really have to weigh them down to prevent any tipping. I will probably only be able to get about 5 feet, if that. I know that Nikon has a wireless commander can attach to the camera, but from $ 200, I prefer to buy a SB-800 to $ 300 for it! Is there a cheaper option to fire a remote flash with my D50?

Units flash you mentioned can also be enslaved by using the IR output or real flash at that time out. Even the old SB-50DX will do this. Do some tests and see for yourself. They seem to be firing "study" issues … you really do not need flash to do that … some good 500w incandescent lights with umbrellas are much easier to adjust the lighting you want and with the WB on your camera the color will be fine.
