Is Nikon Coolpix L100 a good camera for a 15 year old starting photography?

I need opinions.

I just bought a Panasonic DMC Fz38 because its affordable and has plenty of manual controls to play around with. Its a bridge camera (like the L100) so if you do get really serious you would have to upgrade to a SLR. A bridge camera is a good starting point though.
