How do you change the frames per second shot in a video editing program or camera?
I use Sony Vegas 6 and a Nikon CoolPix L3 and I’m shooting a video..i heard that shooting in 24 fps(frames per second) makes it look real….how do i get it to 24 fps?
Your camera does not have adjustable frame rates. 24p is a camera setting originated by Panasonic. It is a fancy way of saying the camera takes one frame of video every 24th of a second. It is a full frame instead of the interlaced video of a normal video camera. This simulates the frame rate of a 35mm film camera used for movies. Essentially it gives you a slightly choppy effect that makes it feel like film. This is popular with independent film makers.
In my opinion, this is kind of a waste of time and resources. Film does not look like video and video does not look like film. Spend the money that you would spend on filters and a camera on getting other supplies and tell the best story you can. A good story will beat a silly effect any day.
If you really want to try to get a film like effect, there are articles on how to achieve that on the DV magazine web sight. I would try searching for it there. They also have tons of reviews for cameras capable of shooting in 24p.
