I want to buy a digital SLR, the budget of about $ 500. Should I see a Nikon or Canon?
I have a Canon point and shoot works well, but I've heard good things about Nikon. Any suggestions on models in my price range? I would also like to take photography classes (Especially to learn how to create a manual camera), but is there some book I could find in a library that can help me learn on my own, so I can save $ 300 for one class of eight weeks? o If you definitely have to go and take a class? The reason photography is as hobby, not a professional particular purpose (at least for now). Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Either the Canon Rebel XS or Nikon D60 or D40 would be good choices. Both make great cameras and lenses. It's really a personal preference. Go to a camera store and play with them. Choose the one that feels best in your hands. As for the class. You learn much faster if you take a course. It will be money well spent. Probably will take a couple of years of trial and error to learn what you in 8 weeks with the course. Look around while you may be able to find a cheaper way through a camera store in the city, community center, school, etc. community who recently taught a course in three weeks for my people that costs $ 100.
