Does PZ40X II Quantaray by Sunpak auto zoom flash work with the Nikon D40?

The box says "i full TTL dedication with D50, D70s, D70, D100 and D200 cameras. "I'm new to the Nikon D40 and will not take the flash out of the box unless I know it will work with my camera. (The salesguy I told my husband that I would.)

This is an old flash that is not suited to the D40, but will work with him.
