Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8 Question?
Finally figured it would get the Tamron 17-50 for my Nikon D80 with SB600 flash. After many searches and, of course, to see my budget because the Nikon 17-55 is outrageously expensive, I found two types of lenses that do it justice. One is the Tamron XR built on the engine and the other was the Tamron SP AF17 Di II LD Aspherical F/2.8-50mm? One of them is to add some more a few dollars more than the other. What is the difference between the two? Just curious, and what the built in motor to make it worth buying this one. Just confused. And I saw the Tamron 17-55 Vibration Design built-in motor as well, but that was 649.00. That's a beginning of the line, and he left a few months ago? Your suggestions will be useful. I love portraits and just started photography. I start classes next month as well. Thanks in advance
There are only two versions of Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8. One is the Tamron SP AF17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical [IF]. What a mouthful of a name! I own this version, but with a Canon mount. The other 17-50mm f/2.8 is simply An update of this popular lens now has VC (Vibration Compensation) added. Tamron is the version of an image stabilizer and is definitely a lens worth considering, especially if you like shooting in low light, handheld. I bought my lens due to its constant aperture of f/2.8 and I can say it's a very good lens. Apart a bit of barrel distortion at 17mm (typical case of a wide angle lens), is a great performer. My aim works well in low light, but remains limited because it has no IS. I prefer not to use flash most of the time. With the addition of image stabilization (VC), you will be able to shoot at shutter speeds Handhold faster (up to 4 stops). I want one … lol But who has no risk capital is still very good.
