Tips for taking a picture in front of a waterfall?

One of my friends wants to take some pictures of her in front of a waterfall. I've never taken a picture of his personality, especially not in front of a waterfall over the welfare of a nature photographer. I would like some tips for taking photos in the air free so you can be sure you can take the best pictures I can. The camera will use is a Nikon Coolpix 8800. Thanks! :)

You should be moving forward and closer, but not really to protect your camera from water. I guess not talking about the kind of Niagara Falls, but slightly smaller and in that case sprayprobably not reach the camera. The reason why you should move back and zoom in is to get a lighter background so the subject is against it. You have to use these tricks with a compact. Therefore, zoom in almost all the way and then back up (seeing what is happening) until the subject fills the frame the way you want. You may not want to put your subject near the waterfall. Get your background as far as possible without disappearing waterfall or too small in proportion it. If you can set aperture priority f/2.8 aperture, if any, of/3.5 if that's the best you have. If you do not have aperture priority, then use the portrait mode will be the next best thing. Take several photos. If you can zoom the camera preview, check your focus. You want your eyes to be very sharp. It will take some practice to do well as long instead of getting a few lucky shots. Oh, and do the pose where the sun will be in her eyes or squinting eyes. And try not to do in the middle of the day because it will have dark shadows on the forehead. Early in the morning or evening would be the best time for light to fall on the face side would be more flattering. If you do go out at dawn or dusk, you may want to use a tripod so you can use a low ISO like 100 or 200. DO NOT use Auto ISO. Editing Ara suggestion is also a good idea. I thought about it and if you can use a tripod and a shutter speed of camera as it would be a great shot. You can also use an aperture of 5.6 or 8, or use landscape mode if you want the waterfall to be more in focus. I would like try various poses and settings, and view as a result. But remember, keep the ISO to 100 or 200. 400 maximum. If the use of cars and let the camera is set you ISO will all over the place on your shots.
