Is there a way to save a JPEG of a NEF file without losing the vibrant colors?
I'm using a Nikon D100 in NEF raw. each time you save jpeg format (save up to 12 JPEG, adobe1998 colorprofile) i still lost the color you want if viewed outside of photoshop. Please help
If you are losing color after Photoshop, the problem is not between the NEF file and a jpg. It's what you're doing or not doing in Photoshop. First, I would I recommend converting to sRGB colr space rather than Adobe 1998. That is what most pro printers are using. And learn how to optimize all files before leaving WW. Here is my tutorial on it: The single most important adjustment http://www.jimsdigitaldiary.com/photoshop.html you can do is the density using levels. Never use Auto Levels … that will take be wrong! I also shoot with a D100. RAW (very occasionally), jpg most of the time. If my exposure is correct, I have no need to shoot in RAW … and also, as you may have noticed, the D100 is very slow when you're shooting RAW. Another thought: After shooting jpg format, convert PSD as soon as you go to PS. And to make all adjustments in an adjustment layer. Thus, without picture degradation will occur if you open, edit and close several times the file. By their nature, strip jpg pixels each time the image is opened and closed.
